Richy's 1970 XW Ford Falcon Restoration - PT18 Finish Line

Since our last update, we’ve been busy working to get the XW on the road.

Here’s what we’ve done since the last update

The shifter assembly was installed on the C4. We ran into some issues with the shifter linkages. However, our in-house mechanic Nikita managed to modify them to suit. We used a mixture of a second-hand floor shifter assembly out of an XD Falcon and reproduction parts to fit the XW. The shifter handle is due to be replaced with a chrome reproduction part.

The kick down still needs figuring out, but that’s a tomorrow job….

At this stage, we fit the front bench seat and seatbelts bringing the interior ever so close to completion. The dash pad was installed along with a reproduction GS steering wheel to match the GS dash fascia.

Moving to the front end, the grille frame was restored and installed. We fit the re-chromed headlight rings, park lights along with new lenses and gaskets. Nothing beats a chrome bumper car and our reproduction front bumper and brackets tie the front end up nicely. A reproduction roof visor was installed which will help on those sunny Queensland days.

We had Walker Carburetor Services visit to tune the new Holley 650 Double Pumper carburetor. The next task was to bleed the brakes, air up the tyres and take the XW on its maiden voyage. Be sure to check out our Youtube video of Richy driving the Falcon for the first time.

What’s next:
